My unplanned Iloilo night-out
MYMP Concert @ CPU
Don Protasio, TNT's Marichel Magalona
with MYMP Band.
The best laid plans are usually those unplanned ones. An irony if you will but, really, most of my enjoyable moments of a night out stemmed from not having any plans at all. It's simply going with the flow.
Last Friday and Saturday, with no plans whatsoever, I had to come with my friend Don Protasio of Robinsons Place Iloilo to the 2nd anniversary of Krua Thai in Smallville.

My friend Elizabeth Do insisted I should come and taste their 5 new seafood dishes. So I fetched Don at Robinsons and we immediately proceeded to Krua Thai. Earlier, I was at Tabuc Suba for an informal "interior consultancy" for a close friend. To say that the food at Krua Thai was delicious is an understatement. I simply enjoyed everything, taking about a spoonful of each since I'm on a diet (this is an understatement!), but I had to gorge on the divine dessert- sticky rice with mangoes.
FREESTYLE CONCERT @BOARDWALK
Joeboy Agriam, Gisyl Te, Louie Ng,
Rowena and Alvin Tan.
Lex Tupas, TNT's Marichel Magalona,
Tweety Tupas-Balleza and Don Protasio.
After, we checked out the concert of MYMP at CPU. A lot of bigwigs came- Mayor Jerry Treñas, Rosalie Treñas, Lex Tupas, Edgar Sia, etc. Jane Javellana, the local producer, was so nice to even bring us backstage after the show for an impromptu picture taking with MYMP. We met Vivian Sarabia, the national producer along with Korina Sanchez, backstage. Don and I had to slip out before we got included in the chaos backstage.
The next day I fetched Don at his place. I used my new Ralph Lauren bag the previous night and I'm excited to let him see my other new bag, a Liz Claiborne in ikat material (gifted to me by my sister-in-law Butchay from her recent Hawaii trip). Both of us are bag-holics especially the weird, quirky and obscure kind. It was indeed weird that Don was not using any bag that night. But he had to compensate and used a plunging black Farhi knit top. He liked my bag and pointed out the little details to me. We had drinks and nachos at Flow. You should check out the place earlier when it's not yet crowded.
A NIGHT WITH FRIENDS @

Looking at me, you would not believe I like Freestyle's "Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang?". I had to buy the tape and memorize the lines. It was indeed weird when I took up the challenge to sing with ADLIB, a group of talented guys doing stand-up singing at Juan's Resto every Friday and Saturday. Yes, I had to sing the song with Juven, Mico, BJ, Dean and I guess I did it with flying colors! Erly (our editor) wouldn't believe me but I tend to surprise everyone once in a while. John Montinola, Juan's Resto owner, also got two stand-up comics from Manila, Bullet and Shy D, who entertained everyone with their antics.
We also dropped by at Freestyle's concert at the nearby Boardwalk. Joeboy Agriam, Lex Tupas, Tweety Tupas-Balleza and friends were cooking up a storm on the dance area when we got there. Freestyle sang "Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang?" as their last song. The song is definitely haunting me! Aris D. was very happy of the large turn-out of crowd.
To cap the night, we met up with my dearest friends at Elements, where Mr. DJ whipped up 70s and 80s tunes. Everyone was in their "elements"! We went home in the wee hours of the morning.
Iloilo indeed has a vibrant nightlife one should not miss.
