Teacher in public school 'missing'
For every tardy and absentee student is a tardy and absentee teacher.
This, parents of Jose Bacaling Elementary School in Banate, Iloilo now reports, reason why a complaint has now been lodged before school officials. And the parents want the teacher's excuse letter or official explanation at least, as to why the teacher has gone 'missing.'
Subject of the complaint is Teacher 1 Maryann Gregorio, adviser of Grade 4, Section 2 of said school and named respondent of the parents' "misbehavior" case filed before school principal Portia Nadales. Director Raymundo Lapating of the Department of Education (DepEd) regional office was also apprised of the parents' complaint with the DepEd reportedly out to send an in-house investigator to Banate and verify the allegations.
The News Today (TNT) learned from DepEd sources that the yet to be identified prober will visit the school and meet with the complainants next Thursday.
Reached by Bombo Radyo's Rodel Fullon, Brigido Bagatnan Jr. alongside several parents and officers of the school's parent-teacher-children association led the complaining group.
They are helpless, Bagatnan told Bombo Radyo, with their complaint allegedly left unresolved and unacted in the principal's level. And Teacher Gregorio is still "missing," Bagatnan added while saying that a request for a consultative meeting was left unanswered.
The group is also getting frustrated and dejected, he added, with the school soon out for a holiday break and Teacher Gregorio yet to report for work on time and as scheduled.
In a resolution passed by the parent-teacher-children association, the group decried what they said was unacceptable "unauthorized frequent absences and tardiness" of the said teacher.
"She has significantly exceeded the allowable number for absences," the complaint further went.
TNT learned that the parents' sentiments against the teacher began back in 2004 still. To date, a similar complaint awaits resolution and action in the school administration's Grievance Committee.
