Authorities to regulate pyrotechnics manufacture in Western Visayas
Camp Delgado's Firearms Explosives Security Agency and Guards Supervision Section (FESAGSS) will strictly regulate and strengthen its campaign against the illegal manufacture of firecrackers and pyrotechnic products in the region, particularly now that Christmas season and the New Year celebration are fast approaching.
According to PO3 Randy Babor of FESAGSS in Camp Delgado, their office has come out with a directive to the different city and provincial police offices in Western Visayas to implement the order aimed at requiring manufacturers of pyrotechnic products to secure the necessary permit from their office.
The district of Arevalo was dubbed as the "firecracker capital" of Iloilo City where manufacturers abound. It has earned the monicker "Little Bulacan" of Western Visayas.
Despite this, most manufacturers here are unlicensed.
Babor advised the firecracker manufacturers to secure the needed requirements before engaging in the business or they will be dealt with accordingly by FESAGSS. Violators, he said, will face imprisonment and confiscation of their equipment.
Babor further noted that even if they have secured the necessary permits from the local government units concerned, still they need to secure another permit from Camp Delgado.
FESAGSS, he said, will strictly regulate the manufacture of firecrackers in the region to avoid a repeat of accidents and fires that happened in the past as a result of improper manufacture and use of firecrackers.
