Ombudsman launches caravan of services Nov. 30
Ombudsman Regional Office VI in Iloilo City will conduct a Caravan of Services in the different towns of Iloilo on November 30, 2006.
OIC Deputy Ombudsman for Visayas Director Virginia Palanca Santiago, will spearhead the travel around Iloilo towns assisted by Msgr. Melito Oso of the Peoples' Graft Watch Iloilo, Iloilo City Corruption & Prevention Unit officers and members, students of Assumption Convent and other colleges and universities in the city.
Among the services the Ombudsman will bring to the people of the city and province of Iloilo are public assistance, request for clearance, travel, retirement, legal and seminar for public accountability especially barangay captains.
Since the inauguration of the Ombudsman Regional Office last August 17, 2006 graft investigators have assisted many private individuals and government personnel on the processing of clearances, called attention of discourteous public officials, and assisted the follow up of public officials and employees who have pending cases with the Ombudsman Visayas.
The office also helped many disgruntled government employees with pending claims with GSIS, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-ibig and Land Bank.
Complaint of battered wives and asking for financial support from their philandering husbands who are government employees were also answered. Many government personnel who are fond of incurring debt from fellow employees and private individuals have also been reported to the Ombudsman.
Private concerned citizens also reported many government vehicles being used for private businesses and family use. All these concerns were docketed as urgent by graft investigators of Ombudsman Regional Office in Iloilo City.
Ombudsman will also launch Operation Red Plate campaign on November 30 and heads of government offices whose vehicles are apprehended will be blacklisted and the necessary penalty according to law will be imposed. Since Nov. 30 is a holiday, many government red plated vehicles are found in beaches, night clubs, bars, hotels and pension houses, etc. and once their vehicles are apprehended, necessary charges will be filed by the Ombudsman Visayas.
