PESO conducts Regional Conference and Planning Workshop
Iloilo Provincial Administrator Manuel "Boy" Mejorada gave an inspirational message, in behalf of Gov. Niel D. Tupas, to the officers and members of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) yesterday morning during its Regional Conference and Planning Workshop held at the Governor's Board Room, New Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
The said conference workshop was initiated by Francisco "Bombit" Heler, regional PESO Phil. President – Iloilo Chapter to help officers assisting the legitimacy of recruitment agencies enticing potential local applicants for abroad.
Various topics included in the agenda were: Best PESO Practices, Phil-Jobnet, Major Programs/Projects taken up during the PESO Congress in Cagayan de oro City, Manpower Registry Program, PESO Manual, PESO-Phil RO6 Constitution & By-Laws, etc.
Mejorada further encouraged PESO officers to make their organization vibrant and dynamic as this could greatly help a lot of Ilonggo residents land job opportunities abroad.
Dir. Carlos L. Boteros, DOLE Region VI, was represented by Vivian Sarata to give a message. Senior-Labor Employment Officer Nelia Mabilog also gave her message complimenting Sarata's.
Lawyer Marie Angelica Padrid, Overseas Employment Adjudicator tackled on illegal recruitment policy by the government.
Padrid focused on the illegal activities by the recruitment agencies warning officers of the PESO to be more vigilant in dealing with recruitment agencies. Pertinent papers to prove their legitimacy should carefully be scrutinized through regular checking with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.
Applicants, according to Padrid, should be cautious when a certain recruitment agency offers juicier job opportunities which are too good to be true.
An agency which charges placement fees much higher than a month salary equivalent or more signed by an applicant is considered illegal.
Applicants are encouraged to right away file formal complaint to agencies concerned without prejudiced to their pending applications.
Workshop Proper intended for PESO managers commenced in the afternoon as their final activity for the said regional conference.
