This year, the Municipality of Leon patronal fiesta in honor of St. Catherine de Alexandria was celebrated with a twist. The Binibing Leon Tourism was incorporated in a week-long celebration, which was traditionally held during the Handuraw Festival (September) -- a commemoration of the transfer of the municipality from Sitio Capan, Camando to its present location today.
Bb. Leon Tourism, the annual search of the fairest, gorgeous, and the smartest lady to serve as the municipality's ambassadress of tourism, is one of the most prestigious beauty contests in the Municipality of Leon. It seeks for a female Leonian who epitomizes confidence, intelligence, versatility and socio-environment consciousness.

On November 22, 2006, eight lovely and smart ladies who represented various groups and entities vied for the most coveted title of Bb. Leon Tourism. The ladies competed in 5 major categories namely: talent, casual wear, playsuit, gown, and interview. From eight finalists, the contestants were trimmed down into five and judged in two major criteria of beauty and final interview.
After a very stiff competition, the petite yet brainy and versatile Miss Myra May Calapardo of Leon National High School outshone the four other finalists and was declared Bb. Leon Tourism 2006. During the final interview, Miss Calapardo confidently answered the common question that “To be Bb. Leon Tourism 2006, one must have the determination to succeed, a role model, service and environmentally oriented and an inspiration to her fellow Leonians to affect change in our society.” She also received the Miss Congeniality, Miss Sunsilk, best in talent, and best in interview.
The smart Leon Youth Circle representative Miss Cheryl Capindo was declared Bb Leon Kapayapaan. The stunning Miss Michelle Frades of L-Quago group was proclaimed Bb. Leon Kalikasan and won the best in casual wear, playsuit and evening gown awards. Miss Frades also received the Miss Avon and Miss Photogenic awards. Miss Hennie Jill Cabillon of Buga National High School was pronounced 2nd runner-up while Miss Prirose Palconit, representing the District of Leon II was declared 1st runner-up and awarded best in production number.
The other finalists include: Miss Queeny Rose Braca of Dorog National High School, Maricel Aquino of LNCA-WVCST Campus and Miss Vivian Calamba of Bucari national High School. Last year's winners, Miss Kristia Emil Memorial (Bb. Leon Kalikasan 2005); Miss Jenny Mae Cambalo (Bb. Leon Kapayapaan 2005) and Miss Rachel Caguimbal (Bb. Leon Tourism 2005) were also present to relinquish their thrones.

The panel board of judges were composed of two of Iloilo's multi-awarded fashion designers Bo Parcon (official designer of Bb. Leon Tourism 2006), and Don Protasio; the vivacious Ms. Yuyen Sevilla (Passi City Tourism Officer); the bubbly Jennifer Osorio (Municipality of Lambunao-Tourism Officer) and the debonair Mr. Nerlan Nugpo (Physical Therapist).
The committee for the search for Bb. Leon Tourism 2006 was spearheaded by the Municipality of Leon Tourism Officer, Ms. Ma. Analiza C. Camago with the very energetic Atty. Glenn C. Cababa-an (Chairman, Committee on Tourism), SB Member, as co-chairman. The spectacular production was directed by Mr. Ian Poylan and hosted by the debonair and eloquent Mr. Sedfrey Cabaluna and anchored by Bb. Leon Kalikasan 2004, Miss Kim Carlm Jagorin.
