Five achievers named 'outstanding Capiceños'
Roxas City -- Five outstanding individuals will be honored by the provincial government of Capiz during the Local Government Unit (LGU) Night December 7 as part of the Sinadya sa Halaran celebration.
Provincial Tourism Officer Alfonso "Bo" Bediones, Jr., who also chairs the Steering Committee of the festival said the said outstanding Capiceños have given due honor and prestige to Capiz and the entire people of the province as well.
Bediones stressed that said individuals have also contributed valuable economic support not only to the province but also to the country in general.
The Outstanding Capiceños this year are Dr. Alberto Roxas, who is the first Capiceño dean of the University of the Philippines' College of Medicine; Mr. Jeofrey Martinez, Chief Executive Officer of Caritas Shield Insurance Corporation; Alfonso Supetran, Founder of ACS Manufacturing Corporation.
Sapian town Mayor Remedios Oñas will also be honored for her great contribution to the 10-point agenda of the province by spending her own personal money in the construction of school buildings.
Corazon Buala took the final list of outstanding Capiceños for her active representation of the province and the country in both national and international gatherings for the welfare of children.
The outstanding Capiceños will be given the highest honor during the LGU Night dubbed as Gab-i sang Pagpasalamat, which is one of the highlights of the province's festivity.
The Search for the Outstanding Capiceños started during the incumbency of Capiz Governor Vicente Bermejo, who was recently adjudged as an Outstanding Governor of the Philippines by the Senate of the Philippines and University of the Philippines.
According to Bediones, this year's LGU Night, which is a gathering of municipal, city and provincial officials, will be graced by Senator Francis Pangilinan.
