Negros Occ. bags top health board award
Bacolod City--The Negros Occidental Provincial Health Board was named as the Most Outstanding Provincial Health Board in Western Visayas by the Department of Health (DOH) during the 2006 Regional Awarding for Stakeholders and Partners held at Sugarland Hotel recently.
Governor Joseph Marañon said in his speech that the provincial government is proud to be among the awardees and he commends the Provincial Health Board.
He added that the award is a clear manifestation of the province's unrelenting commitment to deliver quality health service to the constituents.
Negros Occidental Local Government Units (LGU's) also received awards which totaled to 36 during the event.
The Bago City Health Office bagged the Sentrong Sigla Phase II Level 1 Certified Health Facilities while the Rural Health Units of Cauayan, Pontevedra, and Valladolid received the Sentrong Sigla Phase 1 Certified Health Facilities.
Talisay City on the other hand bagged the Most Outstanding City Health Board prize while the Don Salvador Benedicto, Escalante, San Carlos, Toboso, and Calatrava Inter-local Health Zone (ILHZ) was named as the Most Outstanding Inter-local Health Zone.
Moreover, the cities of Sagay, Escalante, and San Carlos were named as Outstanding Health Boards while Calatrava, Isabela, Pontevedra, and Toboso were named as Outstanding Municipal Health Boards.
The Inter-local Health Zones of South Negros, Midland Negros, and CASAMA (Cadiz, Sagay, Manapla) received the Outstanding Inter-local Health Zones while the cities of Victorias and Silay were given the Expanded Program on Immunization Award.
On the other hand, the Newborn Screening Awards were given to the Bago City Hospital, Cadiz District Hospital, Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial Hospital, Dr. Jose locsin Memorial Provincial Hospital, Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital, Isabela District Hospital, Kabankalan District Hospital, and the Doctor's Hospital, Inc.
