Cops face blank wall on Cocolife robbery
Authorities are still facing a blank wall as to the identities of the culprits who carted away at least P200,000 from Cocolife Insurance Company in Jalandoni St., Iloilo City last Sunday night.
While the fingerprints taken by the Scene Of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) from the crime scene are still being evaluated at the Crime Laboratory in Camp Delgado.
The robbery was discovered by the company's security guard around 9:30 a.m. Monday after he found out that the vault inside their office was ransacked.
Police investigators believed the crime was perpetrated between Sunday night until early morning of Monday.
The suspects gained entry at the back portion of the building by breaking the glass window.
Police theorized that there must be not less than two suspects.
Investigators said the vault containing the company's collections amounting to at least P200,000 was destroyed using a metal bar.
Several traces of fingerprints were found on the vault's surface.
SPO1 Efren Feliprada said the suspects could have conducted prior surveillance and planned for the burglary.
It could not, however, be determined if the suspects have a contact from somebody at Cocolife Insurance.
Cocolife Insurance has a security guard but only reports for duty during daytime. It is merely closed and left unguarded at night.
Earlier, police warned the public against the presence of "akyat bahay" gang members following the series of burglaries that occurred in the different parts of the city.
