Christmas celeb in WV was generally peaceful--Barias
Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 Director Chief Supt. Geary Barias said the Christmas celebration in Western Visayas was "generally peaceful" as no major incidents took place.
Police stations around the region only reported a number of incidents from stabbing, shooting and one reported case of indiscriminate firing.
Barias, in a radio interview, attributed the peaceful holding of the Christmas celebration to the massive police visibility and the cooperation of the public.
Barias hopes that the peaceful holding of the celebration will continue until the New Year's eve.
Meanwhile, Barias said the alert status imposed on different police stations will continue. All police stations especially those in far-flung areas are mandated to take precautionary measures against the possible atrocities of the communist New People's Army (NPA).
