Price hike on 'noche buena'; items noted
Roxas City -- There is an increase in the prices of 'noche buena'; items, says the Department of Trade and Industry.
Capiz DTI Regulatory Division Chief Ma. Angelita Colmo said that a P2 to P3 price increase was noted on noche buena items like condensed milk, cream, quezo de bola, pasta, and fruit mix, among others.
Colmo said that said items are the most saleable commodities this season, particularly during the Christmas celebration and in preparation for New Year';s eve.
She added that except for said items, the prices of all other basic goods and commodities remain stable based on last month';s price monitoring.
Colmo, however, appealed to the public not to do the last-minute marketing to avoid price manipulation by some unscrupulous vendors and businessmen.
On the other hand, she also warned the owners of business establishments to comply with the rules and regulations of said office like the strict observance of the price tag and the quality standard acts.
For the current year, DTI Capiz was able to penalize one commercial establishment for violating the price tag law, Colmo said.
