Meeting the Lettermen of my Childhood
"Memories pressed between the pages of my mind" include a childhood filled with music -big band dixie music and broadway musicales if it was my Tatay putting on the needle to the vinyl but if it was my older siblings, specially if it was my sister Zyra, you'd hear nothing else but Lettermen. Last Saturday I found myself in the same room with the voices that have sent the world ooh-ing and aah-ing with their romantic hits through the years as ABS-CBN hosted the Lettermen's meeting with the media prior to their first-ever concert in Bacolod. While I would not classify myself as a fan I couldn't help but be won over by their charm and wit and specially their natural affinity for Filipinos that have brought them back to our shores seven times over. How can you not when each professed to love our "laing", homegrown but world class beer and "balut". It was a rainy and windy evening as Bacoleños flocked to the Lettermen concert but all Tony Butala, Mark Preston and Donovan Tea could make all of us feel was, to borrow a title from another of their hits..."Warm".
