Rational Insanity
For your comments
For about a month now I have had emails from certain people asking me to comment on their literary pieces as to whether these things held any merit when it came to the literary field. Well, despite my meager literary knowledge , I must admit that I am not that keen on commenting on the work of other people, perhaps because I don't consider myself an extreme expert in the field yet, or maybe because I really still consider my senior mentors more knowledgeable in the field than I am. Anyway, here, this week is a poem written by one of my readers who would like to hear your comments of it, so, I yield my space for this literary hopeful and truly pray that the body of local writers grows by leaps and bounds. Here is the piece, and I hope to hear your comments next week. (the piece is published verbatim, unedited):
SILENCE
There is a silence
In my heart
That groans
Like a storm.
It pesters me through the day
And through the night
And every time
I am wordless,
Speechless,
Dumb.
It's a silence that
Gobbles me up
Like a beast
Hungry
For a hundred years.
It eats my reverie
And makes my silence
Silent
Still.
It is a silence that is dark
And black
As the cloak of night.
It swallows
The glimmer of thought
That I see
As I think
In
Silence.
Tell me, now
What this silence
Is all about
As it threatens me
Day,
Night,
Every second
Of the day.
Tell me,
Or this silence
Shall silence
The noise
Of
My life.
There you go folks, comment all you want! I chose this piece because I felt it had something to say. Get your literary cogwheels going!
