JBLCF officials with the commissioners of CHED.
John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation (JBLCF) is now a full-fledged Maritime University, the first in the Philippines and in Southeast Asia, after it was granted Maritime University Status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
All the five Commissioners of CHED, namely, Dr. Carlito S. Puno, Chairman, Dr. Nenalyn P. Defensor, Dr. Nona S. Ricafort, Dr. Hadja Luningning M. Umar, and Dr. Saturnino Ocampo, Jr., were in favor for the Maritime University Verification Visit last February 1-2, 2007.
The Commissioners, sitting en banc, were unanimous in their decision to grant University Status to John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation. The Commissioners were all at John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation, together with Dr. Heracleo Lagrada and Dr. Cynthia Barrera of the Office of Programs and Standards of CHED and Dr. Isabela Mahler, CHED Regional Director, Dr. Alan Lena and Ms. Nona Fernandez of CHED Region 6.
JBLCF is very happy and jubilant over this feat, under the dynamic leadership of its President Emeritus and Chairman of the Board, Dr. Mary Lou Lacson-Arcelo and the Vice-Chairman, Mr. Ronald Raymond Lacson-Sebastian.
