CPU to host 60 years of Phil-Am friendship celebration
Central Philippine University (CPU) has always maintained a healthy relationship with the Americans. CPU was founded by the American Baptist Missionaries in 1905 and the American Studies Resource Center of its Henry Luce III Library, the biggest in Western Visayas and third largest in the country, is one of the only 13 Thomas Jefferson Information Centers in the Philippines.
CPU, with its partners -Department of Foreign Affairs, U.S. Embassy, University of the Philippines in the Visayas Chancellor's Committee for Culture and the Arts, National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the National Historical Institute (NHI), and the Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO), hold "Partnership at 60" to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Philippine-American friendship day.
CPU will be hosting the photo exhibit caravan on February 19 to March 5, 2007 at the Henry Luce II Library lobby. The said photo exhibit travels to different universities nationwide to give the students and the public the opportunity to understand the evolution of Philippine-American relations. According to CPU's American Studies Resource Center Area Director Mrs. Josephine Fernandez, this photo exhibit "will showcase a unique collection of photos and memorabilia items depicting dynamic bilateral relations and people-to-people exchanges in the last 60 years."

On January 29 to February 12, 2007, the traveling photo exhibit was held at the University of the Philippines in the Visayas Art Gallery.
