Leganesnons sidelined Guimarasnons in Paraw Regatta 2007
After several years of holding the title, boatmen from the island-province of Guimaras were stripped of the title in the Paraw Regatta sailboat race by contestants from Leganes, Iloilo.
For the category A three in the first five places, went to the Leganesnons. The 1st place for category A went to Orlando Demetillo of Camangay, Leganes who made the paraw himself.
The 2nd place went to Rogelio Gareza of Guimbal. The paraw was built by Federico Tantiado. The 3rd place went to Pablito David Jr of Camangay, Leganes. The paraw was built by John Jaruda.
The 4th place went to Victor Gordoncillo of Camangay, Leganes. The paraw was built by Winnie Demetillo. The 5th place went to Oscar Espinosa of Sto. Niño Sur, Arevalo. The paraw was built by Henry Tanagras.

ajoinly organized by the Iloilo Paraw Regatta
Foundation Inc., DYRI-RMN Iloilo and PROSPORTS
Inc. It was also supported by the Iloilo City
government and Department of Tourism 6.
Thirty paraw competitors joined in the category A and 15 in the category B. Both categories were then ruled by boatmen from the island-province of Guimaras.
The cash prizes for the Class A distance race totaled to P66,000 excluding the prizes for finishers of the race. For the Class A, the first prize is P12,000 plus P6,000 with painted sail; 2nd prize P8,000 plus P4,000 with painted sail; 3rd P6,000 plus P3,000 with painted sail; 4th prize P5,000 plus P2,000 with painted sail; 5th prize P4,000 plus P1,000 with painted sail and 6th prize until 10th prizes P2,000 plus P1,000 with painted sail. The finishers prize is P600.
The prizes for Class B is much bigger compared with Class A. The 1st prize for the Class B is P15,000 plus P7,000 with painted sail; 2nd prize P12,000 plus P5,000 with painted sail; 3rd prize P10,000 plus P4,000 with painted sail; 4th prize P8,000 plus P3,000 with painted sail; 5th P5,000 plus P2,000 with painted sail; 6th prize until 7th prize is P2,000 plus P1,000 painted sail. The finishers prize is P600.
For the category B, Ulysses Torino of Camangay, Leganes was declared as 1st placer. The paraw he used was built by Winnie Demetillo.
The second place went to Oscar Espinosa of Sto. Niño Sur, Arevalo. The paraw was built by Henry Tanagas.
The third place went to Jimmy Gange of San Isidro, Sibunag. It was also Gange who built the paraw he sailed last Sunday.
The 4th place went to Danny Diomon of Jardeleza. It was Winnie Demetillo who built his paraw. While, Melvin Minerva of Sto. Niño, Arevalo ranked 5th. His paraw was built by Henry Tanagas.
