Finance chief in Iloilo for BIR's March 5 tax forum
Finance Secretary Margarito B. Teves will be in Iloilo City on March 5, 2007 to give insights on the importance, objectives and benefits of the government's tax enhancement program.
According to Regional Director Hadji Mama B. Marzoc of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Revenue No. 11, Iloilo City, two major activities will be held on March 5 and it is aimed at strengthening the BIR's partnership with the different sectors of the society.
He said that the two featured activities on March 5 are the conduct of “Premyo Sa Resibo” Roadshow and forum on “Revenue Enhancement, Growth and Stability”. These activities will be held at Iloilo Grand Hotel, Iloilo City.
Meanwhile, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in one of her statements noted that the benefits of the strict reform measures implemented by her administration have begun to be felt by the Filipino people, particularly since the last quarter of 2006.
Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye on the other hand said that Filipino taxpayers are proud to do their share for nation building.
He said that President Arroyo commended her entire economic team for helping put the country's fiscal house in order, plugging loopholes in the revenue system and streaming expenditure where they are needed most to generate confidence, investments and jobs.
“Collections are up and corruption is going down. The administration's pro-poor projects are on a roll in an atmosphere of economic vibrance and political stability,” Secretary Bunye concluded. (T.Villavert/PIA)
