Iloilo Yearbook 2007 launched today; The News Today goes daily!
Two significant milestones will happen today in the life of TNT Publishing Inc.--the official launching of the second edition of Iloilo Yearbook and the launching of The News Today as a daily newspaper.
The much-awaited Iloilo Yearbook 2007 has finally come out the press. It will be officially launched in a simple ceremony at the Emilion Function Center, Roadhouse Complex in Gen. Luna St., Iloilo City.
Iloilo Yearbook 2007, which consists of 167 full-colored pages, has as its cover the painting of Calle Real, circa 1947, made by historical painter Antonio de Oteyza. Calle Real was once considered the center of trade and commerce in the city.
Iloilo Yearbook 2007 chronicles and captures significant moments of Iloilo's history, government, people, lifestyle, tourism and culture through vibrant artistic photographs complemented by interesting and compelling essays and articles authored by some of the province's leading writers.
The cover story which revisited Calle Real's magnificent past was written by Ilonggo historian Prof. Henry Funtecha.
Aside from the review of the year that was 2006, the other interesting features of the Iloilo Yearbook 2007 are Atty. Rex Salvilla's Then and Now, the Streets of Iloilo; Dr. Rodolfo Gumabong's The First Nurses of the Philippines; Francis Gentoral's take on the city's economy and business through the write-up The Next Big Thing; Jigger Latoza's views on current state of education in his Transcending the Four Walls; couple Alain Russ and Agnes Dimzon's piece on the history of Non-Government Organizations in Iloilo, and much, much more.
On the other hand, The News Today will be officially launched today as a daily newspaper.
From its humble beginnings as a weekly, bi-weekly then tri-weekly newspaper in the six years that it has existed, The News Today has truly captured its own market and following making it ready to go daily.
This means the Ilonggo readers can already have a copy of their favorite quality and professional newspaper everyday.
Alongside TNT's becoming a daily would be the improvement of its on-line edition through www.thenewstoday.info. The website will already be updated everyday while breaking news developments will be immediately posted as they happen.
