Treñas vows help to construction of new ICPO building
The Iloilo City Government will shoulder the expenses for the demolition of the old building of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) in Gen. Luna Street this city.
This was assured by Mayor Jerry Treñas in yesterday's interview with City Hall beat reporters.
The Philippine National Police hierarchy has alloted P12.5 million for the construction of a new ICPO building.
Treñas said the PNP has asked his help relative to the demolition of the old building. He said they would be checking with the city's engineers to determine the cost of demolition.
The ICPO building is already dilapidated. It was razed by fire years ago. Only portions of the building was reconstructed for the police use. The city police building houses the Police Station 1, administrative and operational offices, Iloilo City Mobile Group and the Iloilo City Detention Jail.
The mayor added that he is looking forward to giving additional aid to modernize the city police in the near future.
