Lenten season and thieves in government
Sinners and righteous people alike will piously observe the Holy Week and meditate on the sacrifices of our Lord Jesus Christ who suffered on the Cross. Through the blood of Jesus, sins have been forgiven. But this does not mean that God’s people will continue to sin as the Lord hates sin but upholds the life of the righteous.
Practically all Christians are seriously religious during Holy Week. But after the Easter Sunday, many go back to their sinful way of living for they thought that the Holy Week rites have absolved them from their sins. This mistaken notion has turned our nation to the shameful tag of being “the most corrupt nation in Asia,” according to the PERC survey recently. How can we redeem our dishonor as the No.1 most corrupt nation in Asia? Being the only Christian nation in Asia, it is but easy to make the Philippines the bastion of honest people in the world if only Pres GMA will use sword and not stick to punish the corrupt men and women in the government. What we mean by sword is not the blade but by kicking the rascals in her administration. She has the vast powers to hand down strict punishment to the corrupt officials and employees. But why can’t she? Let’s give the President time to drive away the rascals from her administration.
The crooks in government should return the money stolen from the people as there are about 53 percent poor and malnourished in the Philippines today according to SWS survey. Follow the Biblical example of Zacchaeus, the Jewish tax collector who said in Luke 19:8-9: “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house because he also is a son of Abraham.”
Return now, government grafters and corrupters, the millions of pesos you have stolen from the government treasury and no doubt your God will do the same as He did to the Jewish tax collector. This is the right time to return the money as what the Army Lt. General Comptroller told the government about P38 million he will return but GMA reportedly refused.
Anyway, not a single centavo will be brought to the right place where the crooks are destined to when they die. Give peace to the family you will leave behind once you have restored the money stolen from the people. Your salvation is now between you and God. Confess your sins and ask forgiveness from God. Better still if the money stolen is returned.
