Without the White Coat
CPU College of Medicine's first graduates
The procession that started from the CPU Centennial Nursing Building to the university chapel was a great sight to watch because 28 students were in full graduation regalia --- toga and all.
The said graduates were the first for the College of Medicine of the Central Philippine University. They were products of mentors who were instilled with the knowledge on how to produce the "first" "Christian Doctors" in the region.
Dr. Juanito M. Acanto, president, dreamt of producing doctors who will truly care for their patients, and this became a reality.
The task of producing such graduates was laid upon the hands of Dr. Glenn AM Catedral, dean of Medicine and Dr. Alma "Tita Doc" Frondoza, associate dean.
During the time when the number of enrollees in medical schools and with some institutions closing down, CPU's College of Medicine promises to supply the best graduates in this field.
CPU also faces the challenge of producing medical students amid the clamor for Nursing course.
Looking back. CPU has survived the test of time and it will survive this new challenge.
It is a Christian university dedicated to produce graduates that will answer the need of the country and in order for it to be recognized globally.
The school will always strive for the improvement of the practice of medicine by instilling on the youth the Christian values of dealing with patients as humans rather than as diseased.
The graduates will showcase the training and medical education program that reflects CPU at its best.
