Capiceños can lean on NFA rice during lean months
Roxas City -- Capiceños are assured of continuous and sufficient supply of rice even during the lean months season.
The preparation for the lean months from July to September this year has been part of the government's hunger mitigation measures of the National Food Authority (NFA).
Capiz NFA Information Officer Edna Artates disclosed that the sufficient rice supply will flood all accredited rice outlets, including the various Bigasan ng Bayan and Tindahan Natin outlets.
The individual accredited retailers inside and outside the market and the farmers cooperatives will also be authorized to sell the government rice at P18.00 per kilogram
Artates said that some 22,750 bags of local rice are now ready for distribution to NFA's accredited rice outlets in the province.
Some 94,400 bags of imported rice as allocation for Capiz are also expected to arrive this month to address the rice requirement for the lean months season.
The food agency's latest rice inventory include the 36,205 bags which represents 7 percent of the total rice inventory of the province that could last for 7 days based on the provincial daily consumption requirement of 6,280 bags, Artates said.
She added that as of March 15, stock survey show that there are 39,000 available bags of commercial rice sold at P25.00 to P28.00 per kilogram, while the household inventory was 529,600 bags that could last for 84 days.
