To address the scarcity of water supply in the city, the city government will ration water to the different billeting areas of the delegates of the National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Games which opened yesterday.
There are delegates from Region 1 (Ilocos), Region 2 ( Cagayan Valley), Region 3 (Central Luzon), Region 4 (Calabarzon), Region 5 (Bicol), Region 6 (Western Visayas), Region 7 (Central Visayas), Region 8 (Eastern Visayas), Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula), Region 10 (Northern Mindanao), Region 11 (Davao), Region 12 (Socsargen), CAR, NCR, Caraga and ARMM who are here for the sporting event.
City Mayor Jerry Treñas said they have requested the Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) to provide enough water for the participants. The water will be rationed by the firetrucks of the Iloilo Fire Service Station to the billeting areas in the city. The mayor wants sufficient supply of water for all the delegates.

The more than 3,000 delegates are billeted at the University of San Agustin, Graciano Lopez Jaena Elementary School, Iloilo Doctor's College, De Paul College, Iloilo National High School, Central Philippine University, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime School, Western Institute of Technology, Lapaz Elementary School, Western Visayas College of Science and Technology, Jaro High School and USA Sambag Campus.
Meanwhile, Treñas has requested the Department of Agriculture for a cloud seeding operation particularly in areas near the Maasin watershed in order to generate rain. The Maasin watershed supplies ¾ of the water needs of the city residents.
The chief executive had already sent a request to DA regional director Larry Nacionales. The regional office, however asked the mayor to follow up his request to DA Secretary Arthur Yap. Yap, was not available when Treñas called.
