PRO 6 deploys add'l troops in N. Iloilo, Guimaras
Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 recently deployed an additional of two platoons for northern Iloilo and the province of Guimaras as preparation for the coming elections.
The troops came from the 4th Company of the 6th Regional Mobile Group based in Camp Delgado.
Chief Supt. Wilfredo Dulay, PRO 6 regional director, the additional troop deployment for northern Iloilo will be based in Balasan town.
It's area of operation covers the towns of Pontevedra, President Roxas and Pilar in Capiz province and Estancia, Carles, Concepcion, Sara, San Dionisio, Batad and other neighboring towns in Northern Iloilo.
The Guimaras deployment, on the other hand, will be based at the Provincial Headquarters of Guimaras Police Provincial Office to compose its Rapid Deployment Force.
"As we come close to the height of election period, there is a more urgent need to strengthen our security measures in order to deter any untoward incident that may affect the electoral process in the region," Dulay said said, adding, "we are relentless with our campaign against the Permit to Campaign fees of the New People's Army and this augmentation will surely pre-empt the same to occur in said areas."
Meanwhile, PRO 6 recently received from Camp Crame eight units of Toyota Hi-Lux Patrol Jeep called "Calderon Troop Carriers". These patrol jeeps will be distributed to the following Provincial Mobile Groups (PMGs): 603rd in Antique, 605th in Capiz, 607th and 608th in Iloilo, and 611th, 612th and 614th in Negros Occidental. One unit will remain in the Regional Headquarters to be used by Reserved Force based thereat.
Dulay said these additional patrol jeeps will surely enhance the capability of said PMGs especially in its role against the insurgents who are expected to take advantage of the election period.
"Our efforts in ensuring an Honest, Orderly and Peaceful Elections (H.O.P.E) will never be as effective as we hope it to be without the full support and cooperation of general public and the political aspirants, especially those who receive NPA's "Permit to Campaign" letter demands," he ended.
