The Cebu ICT 2007 International Conference and Exhibition will formally open with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as keynote speaker, and will feature a panel of experts in compelling discussions focusing on opportunities and threats for Asia's emerging IT-enabled services (ITES) industry, fostering and funding Asian innovation, and the workforce and evolving ICT/ITES hub development models, according to the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).
In a speech during the 6th e-Services Philippines in February, the President stressed the need for higher-value business process outsourcing (BPO) services to create a million jobs in the industry and generate US$12 billion in revenues by 2010. "Our strengths lie in our extensive digital infrastructure, our trusted business environment, and most important, the skills of the Filipino workforce," Arroyo said.
Set to take place June 26 to 28, Cebu ICT 2007 will highlight Asia's potential as a premier investment and outsourcing destination, despite increasing competition around the world. Panel discussions will be led by speakers such as Sordjoeni Moedjino, India's deputy minister of Communications and Information; Christopher Beshouri, president of McKinsey and Company Philippines; Lawrence Hughes, InfoWeapons chairman, founder and chief technology officer; William Pesek of Bloomberge; Dr. S. Sadagopan of the International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore.
