Girls just wanna have fun too!
Get into aggressive dancing
Heart Grovin, winner fro the month of
April
Hip hop dancing used to be dominated by males when its original genre, the breakdance, started in the early 1970s. Twenty years later, hip hop music evolved and so with dancing styles that are a mixture of funk and other ground moves like krumping, harlem shake, snap dance, clown walk, grinding and gangster walking.
Willy's Glitters
As moves became aggressive, girls also got into the fad. That is why recently, Robinsons Place Iloilo held a dance competition for girls, entitled "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." In the first elimination, six groups competed and the girls danced to the tune of hip hop. Some also danced to pop. They wore matching outfits and hairstyles as they showed off their boundless talent.
M16
In the first elimination, top three groups were chosen. They are the Willy's Glitters, M16 and Heart Groovin'. The latter topped all three and will compete in the grand finals, the date of which will be announced later.
They were judged by Jacob Confesor, Claribel Magno and Kevin Piamonte.
The second elimination is on May 12, Saturday, 4 pm at the Robinsons Place Iloilo Fountain.
