Former city treasurer Manikan dies
Former City Treasurer Romeo Manikan died of a heart ailment at the age of 70. He was brought to Manila for treatment but passed away last May 16, 2007. His body now lies at the St. Therese Memorial Chapel in Molo. He will stay at the memorial chapel until May 23.
Manikan served as the longest serving city treasurer of Iloilo City. The former city treasurer was once transferred to Cebu by the Department of Finance but later was reappointed as treasurer of Iloilo City. He was already the city treasurer during the time of the late Mayor Rodolfo Ganzon. He served until the term of former Mayor Mansueto Malabor and earlier part of the first term of Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Manikan's body will be transferred to his house at Zamora Extension, City Proper on May 23 until May 27. He will be buried on May 27 at the Forest Lake Memorial Park in Mandurriao district.
