The Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) is implementing a program called the Urban Partnerships Program (UPP), which maintains the 'Ideas for the City Blog'.
The said blog will have regular updates and posts on news and ideas that affect the growth and sustainability of the city-region, particularly the Metro Iloilo-Guimaras Economic Development Council (MIGEDC).
No single person or organization has the monopoly of idea on how to make cities sustainable. People from all walks of life always have something to say about something. Bloggers are among these vocal people who always contribute their minds on a variety of topics that interest them, including how to make our cities sustainable. All they need is a venue to speak up, and the Ideas for the City Blog answers that need. It is also a way of encouraging thinking on good urban governance, urban sustainability and renewal of the public realm of cities, and conceiving solutions to problems on traffic congestion, poor air and water quality, urban poverty, sanitation, garbage and the like.
Readers are invited to intelligently comment on these updates and posts, which may include reports on new programs and projects that have impact on urban lives like building a flyover or constructing a circumferential road. Actionable ideas (or ideas that can be turned into actions) will be modeled to test their viability where best practices are sure to surface.
The best practices generated from various ideas in the blog will be documented and shared with others. They will form part of an agenda for good governance, urban sustainability and renewal of the public realm of cities.
