245 WV students are DOST scholars
Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in the region will support 245 incoming first year college students this coming school opening.
Said students have passed the department's scholarship program.
Dr. Emelyn Flores, officer-in-charge of the office of the regional director for technical operations said the new DOST scholars came from the different parts of Western Visayas. These 245 scholars will take up courses and shall prioritize studies in basic sciences, engineering and other applied sciences and science teaching. The qualified freshman students can only enroll in DOST-accredited universities and colleges.
Flores said the qualifiers will enjoy the DOST-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) scholarship privileges like tuition fees and may enroll at accredited schools and universities plus other benefits like book allowance health insurance and many more.
The Undergraduate Scholarship Program is being administered by DOST-SEI as its top contribution in developing a pool of human resources who will take active participation and leadership roles in carrying science and technology activities.
