Jealous pa stabs to death own toddlers, seriously wounds wife
Two innocent daughters aged one and three of a young couple in Estancia, Iloilo fell victims to a family massacre with no less than the father as the enraged killer. The girls' mother remains hospitalized as she hangs on to dear life with medical update placing her to be in critical condition.
The grisly killings occurred late Monday evening following repeated incidents of domestic abuse, the latest as reported to the town's police was just the night before the tragedy happened.
Behind bars for killing his toddlers and critical wounding of his wife is 29-year old Roel Sayson of Purok 3, Poblacion, Estancia, Iloilo.
Unemployed for years now and living through dole-outs from his parents, Sayson used a flamenco-type knife in the killing spree that left family members and neighbors in great shock and grief.
Hours after his arrest, radio reports told of a killer-father turned grieving husband and parent. The 29 year-old was overheard from inside the lock-up cell wailing and pleading to see his children and his 25 year-old wife.
In a report, The News Today (TNT) gathered that Sayson got enraged upon his discovery that there was no food available when he got home drunk that fatal Monday night. He apparently blamed his wife who was then with his two young girls and in his rage, began to get physical, beating the hapless woman who managed to get out of the house and scream for help.
Neighbors also told police of Sayson's jealous-episodes accusing his wife of a non-existent affair that usually triggers his rage and the domestic spat.
That night of the killings Sayson again blamed the lack of food on his wife's supposed extra-marital activities however locals similarly said the young wife goes around town in search for a few pesos to buy milk and rice. She would also do laundry work in the Poblacion.
Initial police investigation disclosed of multiple stab wounds inflicted to the toddlers with the one year-old suffering the most in injuries particularly in the neck and the chest. Efforts to revive the two girls failed with knife-wounds proving to be fatal.
A few feet from the family hut and just within minutes after he apparently stabbed his girls, a bloodied Sayson caught up with his wife by the roadside along Barangay Bulakeña where he then repeatedly stabbed her. Doctors said she sustained six serious knife-wounds and lost a tremendous amount of blood by the time neighbors and responding authorities rushed her and her babies to the hospital.
The girls would have been baptized this June, their grandfather Paquito Sayson told RMN DYRI reporters yesterday while admitting that much of the problem was on his son.
Yet the killing spree totally came as a shock and surprise to him, the elder Sayson added, though he was privy to the beatings and abuses his son would do to his wife every time he comes home drunk.
Double parricide charges and frustrated murder raps are being readied by police.
