Modern Dance came to rock the house!
Modern Dance is a tradition of theatrical dance unique to the 20th century. Modern dance flourished in areas that lacked strong ballet traditions, such as in the United States where ballet companies were imported from Europe. Although modern dance originated in Europe, by 1930 the United States had become the center for dance experimentation. Many early modern dances were miniatures--solos of highly compressed effect.
At present, Modern Dance is now accomplished, executed and celebrated in numerous parts of the world certainly here in the Philippines. Now, it has reached the shores of Iloilo.
Last May 20, 2007, Robinson's Place Iloilo held its second year of Jun Patrimonio Cortel Modern Dance Culminating Activity under JPC Production.
At the outset, there are mainly 50 percent teenage participants, 40 percent are kids and more or less 10 percent adult members. The activity primarily upholds the up-to-the-minute manner of dancing predominantly of innovative modern dancing such as jazz, pop, techno, freestyle, hip-hop, street dancing and the like.
The goings-on were fore fronted by Jun Patrimonio Cortel himself and was rallied by Riccin Enriquez and Herson Banas of Final Impact Dancers along with Mark Espartero of Koa dancers.
The youngsters bop with Papichola and Kembot plus, the teens and moms hop with Smack and Cappuccino.
Indeed, a mother, Ann Tarrazona, remarked through SMS, "My family and I are very happy because it was a summer not wasted. Thank you for taking so much effort to enhance and develop our children's potential in dancing. I have seen a great development. Keep up the good work."
Look forward for more of JPC Production in subsequent years to come.
