AFP calls for coordinated moves with RPA-ABB
In order to avert any more 'misfires.' the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) pushes for coordinated moves with the RPA-ABB, faction of the Communist Party of the Philippines now involved in peace talks with the Philippine Government.
Troop movements such as Wednesday's mis-encounter in Barangay Bayabag, La Carlota City in Negros Occidental could have been avoided, said Captain Lowen Gil Marquez, Commanding Officer of the AFP's 3rd Civil Relations Group, if only there was proper coordination done by the RPA-ABB to government troopers in the area.
Uncoordinated moves will always result to unavoidable circumstances, Captain Marquez added as he cited the arrest of top RPA-ABB personalities during election period. On record are some twenty RPA-ABB men captured in government operations or police checkpoints for violating Comelec provisions in the campaign weeks.
The incident in La Carlota City resulted to a casualty as Army troopers of the 11th IB headed by Officer Jesus Mananquil Jr. responded to a call for help by locals due to sightings of armed men in the village.
Two were wounded in the firefight that ensued while one was killed in action. The Army also recovered high powered firearms.
"This circumstances that happened will presented to higher level of study so as not to let it happen again. All these we do for the stability of peace and order in our region," Captain Marquez ended.
