Fish vendor killed by irate pa over daughter's rape plaint
A fish vendor was stabbed to his death by an irate father inside the Iloilo Terminal Market early morning yesterday causing panic and chaos.
The victim was identified by authorities as 59 year-old Rudy Malic.
His alleged assailant Eliseo Enrique is the father of a nine year-old girl who tagged the victim as the one responsible in an earlier sexual assault incident involving the girl.
Reports said Enrique, also a vendor at the Iloilo Terminal Market, has been looking for Malic the night before the incident. His fellow vendors said Enrique was enraged by what Malic did to his daughter.
He finally chanced upon Malic selling fish around 4:30 a.m. yesterday prompting him to swiftly attack the victim with a knife.
The News Today (TNT) in a report gathered that Malic was picked up by city police over the weekend following a police blotter entry that identified him as the girl's attacker. Yet for lack of corresponding official complaint and sworn statement on the incident, Malic was subsequently released.
Nothing was heard thereafter from the complainant's family until yesterday's killing.
Witnesses told police that everything happened so suddenly that practically shocked everyone on sight. No one dared to help Malic who was caught off guard and failed to parry the knife attacks.
Malic suffered at least six stabbed wounds as the suspect remains at large. Negotiations are underway though with city police optimistic of a surrender.
