The tables are set in the Capitol, literally and figuratively speaking, as majority of the members of the 8th Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) bids respective posts farewell.
Come Tuesday, SP Secretary Atty. Lorenzo Tubola will lead the secretariat anew in the holding of the 26th regular session, the last for outgoing Presiding Chair, Vice Governor Roberto Armada and nine other colleagues in the SP.
As such, farewell speeches are expected, though as of press time yesterday, none of the ten 'graduating' SP members signified intention to officially say goodbye. By October or at least until the barangay elections are held, Board Member Angel Briones, ex-officio SP member and Federation President of the Provincial Liga ng mga Barangay will also have to vacate his Capitol post. Only First District Board Member Macario Napulan and Second District Board Member Rodolfo "Boy" Cabado remain following reelection and fresh mandate in the next three years.
In a phone interview, Tubola told The News Today (TNT) that preparations and inventory are underway particularly on paper works and pending undisposed referrals on various SP committees. As a matter of procedure, unfinished businesses of the current SP body will have to be referred back to the secretariat and await action of the incoming provincial board.
This, as Tubola assured of continued SP support to the 9th SP body set to be headed this time by Vice-Governor–elect Rolex Suplico. Albeit the nephew of Governor Niel Tupas Sr., the outgoing Fifth District solon is one of the staunch political opponent of the reelected governor.
It will be critical collaboration, Suplico then said in earlier interviews, when asked for comment on his forthcoming leadership in the Capitol's Legislative Department.
Meantime, it is all system's go as well for Monday afternoon's mass oath taking of the Provincial Government's new set of elected officials.
Tubola explained that this schedule is distinct from the Tupas-led oath taking early this week. In fact, official notices were sent out by SP secretariat to newly-elected provincial officials regardless of party affiliations.
