True to its aim to help the less fortunate in the communities it serves, SM Foundation Inc. continues to touch the lives of our countrymen through its various projects.
One of the mall-based projects of SMFI is the Share your Extras project wherein shoppers are encouraged to donate their "extras" such as clothes, food, furniture, household and other basic commodities that can be useful to families who need these.
Goodies for kids
DSWD accredited centers and institutions, social workers and NGOs facilitated the acceptance of mall donations from shoppers in designated booths, while espousing their organization's advocacies. Donations in kind are sorted and sent to target villages and deserving beneficiaries.
This year, the SM Foundation team headed by SMFI Project Director Cristie Angeles together with SM City Iloilo PR Officer Troy Camarista, visited Barangay Rizal Pala-Pala 2, Rizal Pala-Pala 1 and Barangay Rema City Proper.
A happy recipient
The activity was successful through the help of its media partners. GMA TV Network Iloilo's Charlene Belvis and Melvin came by to assist in the activity. Friends from the Iloilo print media community were also present to lend support and help in the distribution of the goods to the indigents of the said villages. DSWD Standard Unit Head Perla Haro also came along to the area to put things in place for the distribution.
