Dengue outbreak declared in 3 Negros villages
BACOLOD CITY -- The Department of Health (DOH) in Western Visayas has declared a dengue outbreak in three barangays of Hinobaan town in Negros Occidental.
Gov. Joseph Marañon said the DOH, through the Provincial Health Office (PHO), has confirmed three deaths and 68 dengue cases from January to June 22, 2007 in Barangays 1, 2 and San Rafael in the said town, some 200 kilometers south of Bacolod City.
Marañon said the PHO and the regional DOH are taking actions to address the situation.
"We are taking steps to prevent more cases that is why we are calling on the people to do their part in maintaining cleanliness and to follow the instructions of health experts, the governor said.
