Displaced night vendors plan mass action
Displaced night vendors outside the Iloilo Terminal Market are reportedly planning to stage a mass action to protest the order prohibiting them to sell their wares outside the market at night.
The concern has reached the attention of City Mayor Jerry Treñas but he has yet to give his take on the matter.
The market-in-charge reportedly banned the night vendors outside the Iloilo Terminal Market based on complaints of regular vendors occupying the stalls inside the market.
Treñas said he is still considering certain options relative to the complaint of the vendors.
Vendors outside the terminal market usually sell vegetables and other agricultural produce coming from the municipalities. Their price is usually lower than that of the vendors occupying stalls inside the terminal market.
The mayor added that city residents are the ones affected by the operation of the night vendors.
He said, he is still weighing on what is the productive and acceptable terms to all the vendors particularly the legitimate vendors.
