City joins League of Corporate Foundations for 57-75 campaign
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas was invited by the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) to join a special plenary on the 57-75 campaign for public education on July 17th, 2007 at Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Manila.
The campaign aims to reverse the current (57) national average score of public elementary school pupils in the National Achievement Test to 75, which is the passing mark or the mastery level based on the Department of Education (Dep Ed) definition.
"The League is actually sponsoring the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Expo 2007 where the highlight of the gathering for this year is to promote the cause of public school education," Treñas stated.
CSR has been giving free 3-day expositions for the last six years featuring the best of Philippine CSR namely best practices, latest strides, new avenues for strategic partnership and multi-sector engagement.
The mayor also mentioned that during the plenary, he will be signing a memorandum of understanding on the 57-75 Campaign, get to know the 57-75 Leaders Council and solicit suggestions on how to retrofit existing local programs to complement the goals of 57-75.
Ayala Corporation Chair and CEO Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala II will also speak on creating a corporate social vision during the gathering.
"I am especially interested with projects like these because I have always put importance on the value of education. Through education, individuals can achieve many things and I want Ilonggos to reach places and become significant members of the community," Treñas also said.
Joining Treñas are Iloilo City Schools Division assistant superintendent Ma. Febe Cang and special assistant to the mayor Matty Octavio.
