Death threats swamp 7 Court Sheriffs, 3 Judges
Seven Court Sheriffs and three Presiding Judges appear to be the next targets of unidentified hitmen in the wake of the unresolved liquidation of Sheriff Johnny Tugado.
This, as death threats were reported to have been simultaneously received by the sheriffs that called for extra security in and out of the Chief Justice Ramon Avanceña Hall of Justice.
In a radio interview, Sheriff Nicolasito Solas said proposals are up to arm the sheriffs yet hampered by lack of government funds. However with the death threats now up, Solas expressed concern on the safety of fellow sheriffs while adding that to date, precautionary measures are in place.
The death threats, The News Today (TNT) gathered were sent to personal mobile phones of the sheriffs and the Judges with the warning explicit and directly made.
Court Judges subject of the death threats similarly handles highly-controversial cases with a corresponding review now made so as to trim down the possible suspects.
Tugado’s death remains under investigation with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on the lead and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) doing a parallel probe.
Senior Superintendent Renato Gumban, CIDG regional chief in an earlier TNT interview said three motives are being pursued primarily the controversial old airport row.
