St. Marie Eugenie of Jesus
It is a time of great jubilation to the religious and friends of Assumption worldwide when its foundress, Mother Marie Eugenie Milleret, was beatified by Pope Paul VI in 1975 and finally canonized and raised into sainthood by Pope Benedict XVI in Rome last June 3, 2007.

The Assumption communities in Iloilo, made up of the religious, lay, fraternities and alumnus of together with their Mother Provincial Sr. Ma. Josefina Matias had a special Thanksgiving Mass officiated by the Archbishop Angel Lagdameo at the Jaro Cathedral last July 15. This coincided with the anniversary of the opening of Assumption Convent in Iloilo 97 years ago .

A luncheon party was given after the mass at the Isabilita Hall where the Assumption school ladies together with other representatives of the Assumption Congregation from here and abroad came in full force to pay tribute to their beloved St. Mother Marie Eugenie.

Also present was Risa Bondoc, the child who was born with brain and optic nerves disorder and who received a miracle cure through the intercession of Mother Marie Eugenie.
Expect Assumption Iloilo to be having more get-together activities until 2010 when they celebrate their 100th year.
