Coffee Thursdays Just Brewing Thoughts
What's in my supermarket cart?
It's Thursday. And it only means one more working day before the weekend. Nothing less to look forward to, but surpass a week of toil and be a slave to a paycheck. Well, I guess I'm still lucky to work on a per hour basis that I don't have to tie myself to an 8 to 5 job. But this doesn't mean I have enough. Still living a rat race in a middle class kingdom of equity. I'm so unproductive. Waking up at 7 a.m. is a torture. I have my love-hate relationship with my mornings, I love the early sun as it timidly hovers the sky with warm dewy rays but abhors it relentlessly come 10 a.m., the scorching heat weakens me, tires my motivation brings me to confinement in a sheltered room.
Anyway, I finished working at about 4 p.m., consumed 3 cups of coffee since this morning and thought of dropping by a nearby mall to get it done with my grocery of household stuff and easy to fix food, since I don't cook at home. I need a slacked off with my lazy conduct.
I ran into the supermarket cold section. There lie my veggies and fruits. What I have in mind are eggplants and spinach, sauté in generous butter and garlic such with gusto, but unfortunately I don't have a kitchen. Moving on, Bananas came first inside my cart, yellow soft long fruits sliced into diminutive bits, fresh milk and grain cereals followed. Adding Apples would be good. Vacillating on Yogurts, but kind of expensive. I wonder how they priced that spoiled aged milk with bacteria so costly? I opted for Yakult instead… ahh... childhood nostalgia.
Walking patiently gazing to a stack of colorful display of processed food thinking… to be or not to be with Lucky Me Pancit Canton? There's a new flavour: sweet and spicy. Worth trying? I don't think so. I'd stick to my old favorite hot chili-mansi. Why do we always go back to the one that gives us pleasure even new things come? Indulgence in security. We always wanted to feel comfort with old habits. One that we feel we know the most.
Next, fruit juices, they are my latest best friend. I just loved them. Why settle for plain water when you can add a natural sweet in them? I took the pineapple orange mix. Dole is much cheaper than Del Monte when they actually taste and look the same.
Now at toiletries section. If there's one thing I can't live without in a bathroom setting, it must be the Toilet paper. Any loo is useless without it. I grabbed the 2 ply, 4 pieces pack for a week supply. Nudging with the cheapest brand, does really matter, when it serves the sole purpose of cleaning the most disgusting product of human existence. Waste, an excess of any form. The presence of a toilet paper is a relief.
The essentials secured, the luxuries follow... 2 bars of Cadbury fruits and nuts, Piattos sour cream and onion chips, and crackers are good with my neglected Nutella in the fridge. I'm almost done. Not forgetting a pack of cigarettes before the counter. Marlboro Lights Gold. In conclusion. Seven a.m. Thursdays and office hours are nothing but enforced slavery. Four p.m. Thursdays and supermarket carts so question the sanity of the shopper that bequeathed it.
