A suckling pig has fed only on mother's milk, has never been allowed to run free, and is no more than a month old. While suckling its young, the mother pig feeds on rye, oats, cabbage and potatoes.

It was also in simple family gatherings that Marichel's business started.
"We used to live in the farm. Our driver would cook lechon often, so I know how it is done. I decided to make one for New Year's Eve for the Magalona family. My in-laws loved it," Marichel said.
"That was also the time when suckling pigs were imported from Vietnam. So, I got one and tried it. I brought this to my group, the Apostleship of Prayer of Sta. Maria and they liked it. Since then, we would enjoy my lechon de leche during our monthly meetings and birthday celebrations of the members."
This craving for her lechon de leche led Marichel to turn this into a business. She and her staff could handle 10 orders a day. She also has clients who would buy the lechon de leche and bring it to Manila.
There's no need to put sauce on Marichel's lechon de leche because it was cooked in a way that it is already tasty. She also assures clients of the same quality taste every time they order because the measurement of the ingredients is consistent. "Every salt, pepper and garlic is measured," she said.
Her lechon de leche is at P1,900 and can be ordered a day before. It can also be delivered within the city.
