Forest and mangrove project gets NEDA board nod
The National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) reported recently that its Board has approved the Community-Based Forest and Mangrove Management Project for Panay and Negros.
The P568.75 million-worth project is one of the 13 projects covering power, infrastructure, agriculture and social development that has been approved by the Investment Coordination Committee (ICC) and was confirmed by the NEDA Board during its recent meeting in Malacañang Palace, Manila.
In its press report, NEDA said for power, the projects that were approved are the Funding Strategy for the Bicol Power Restoration for the Bicol Power Restoration (PhP872.32 million), Concepcion-Clark 230 kV Transmission Line Project (about PhP2.12 billion), Luzon Substation Expansion Project I (about PhP2.12 billion), Aurora-Polanco 138 kV Transmission Project (about PhP1.62 billion).
Under the infrastructure, the NEDA Board confirmed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)- sponsored Quirino Highway Project (about PhP1.62 billion), Spanish-Assisted Bridge Construction/Replacement Project (about PhP3.19 billion), Austrian-Assisted Bridge Acceleration Project for Calamity Areas (about PhP1.61 billion) and the National Roads Improvement and Management Program 2 (about PhP27.43 billion).
The NEDA has also approved the following projects that include the Re-Appraisal of the Angat Water and Aqueduct Improvement Project Phase 2 (about PhP5.75 billion) by the Metropolitan Water Sewerage System (MWSS); Provincial Towns Water Supply Program III (about PhP1.26 billion) by the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA), Strengthening the Implementation of Basic Education in the Visayas (PhP667.11 million) by the Department of Education (DepEd), Establishment of the Women's Medical Center and the Upgrading of the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) (about PhP2.78 billion) by the same institute.
