SP all set for guest appearances of two top Capitol chiefs
Questions are ready while invites were officially sent out to two top Capitol officials invited today by the 9th Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP).
Set for guest appearances are Provincial Treasurer Melba Sullivan and Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO) officer in charge, Alma Ravena.
The Provincial Treasurer was invited following the privilege speech of First District Board Member Richard Garin. Garin was seeking clarification on the current financial state of the Province.
Ravena for her part was invited by the SP body after a consensus was reached last week to get a status report on the appointment of controversial governor's aide Manuel "Boy" Mejorada.
Included in today's agenda of the regular session, the attendance of the duo was sought, a take two for Sullivan who was a no-show last week.
The News Today (TNT) gathered that a repeat of the non-appearance is likely to happen anew. The SP body has no power to impose an invite to any Capitol official or employee.
The issue hounding Mejorada is relative to his appointment as provincial administrator. Questions were raised in the SP yet to date, no reappointment was made by Governor Niel Tupas Sr. with his post said to be on a hold-over capacity.
In his regular press conference yesterday morning Tupas declined to answer categorically if he will allow the invited department heads to appear before the SP.
Tupas said he has referred the matter to his legal advisers.
