Capiz to pick most child-friendly town
Roxas City -- The provincial government of Capiz will scout for this year's most child-friendly town in the province.
Governor Victor Tanco, Sr. has already issued an Administrative Order creating the Provincial Awards and Evaluation Team for the Presidential Award for Child Friendly Municipalities.
The Presidential annual search, which is pursuant to Executive Order 184, series of 1999, is in support to the worldwide Child Friendly Movement that aims to operationalize the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
In said administrative order, Tanco said that the search here also aims to give recognition to the vital role of the local government units in the province in promoting the children's rights to survival, development, protection and participation.
Tanco disclosed that the provincial government of Capiz has been implementing child friendly programs and services as well as take initiatives in promoting the rights of Capiceño children.
Capiz is on the third year in conducting the Search for the Most Child Friendly town here.
Last year, the town Sigma was adjudged first place winner at the provincial level and was declared 3rd placer at the regional search in the 4th to 6th class town category.
The town of Tapaz, which won 3rd place at the province landed also as 3rd placer in the regional's 1st to 3rd class town category.
Annually, the province has been setting aside P100,000 for the first prize winner, P75,000 for the second prize and P50,000 for the 3rd prize winner.
This year's awards and evaluation team is composed of representatives from the Provincial Planning and Development Office, Department of Education, Provincial Health Office, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office and Philippine Information Agency.
