Syjuco couple on Mejorada's fate: 'Good to wake up from a bad dream'
Iloilo's Second District power couple welcomed yesterday's development that established the rightful plight of former aide turned staunch critic, "Provincial Administrator" Manuel Mejorada.
Dubbed the second most powerful man in the Capitol, Mejorada as per the position of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) regional office here is not the official Provincial Administrator.
Fact is, the CSC now contends, the post is vacant along with that of the Provincial Legal Officer.
The matter as Vice Governor Rolex Suplico disclosed settled longtime unresolved issue on whether Mejorada is legally occupying the position as Iloilo's Provincial Administrator.
Secretary Augusto "Boboy" Syjuco, Director-General of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and wife, Second District Representative Judy Jalbuena-Syjuco formerly hired the services of Mejorada.
The relations turned sour and worsened when Mejorada was hired by Tupas. It was also the TESDA Director-General who officially manifested his objections on Mejorada's appointment. This, as he also called for the withdrawal of Mejorada's appointment for not being qualified to the post.
The Syjucos filed a case against the former trusted aide that ultimately got Mejorada off the list of voters and residents of the Second District. One of the basic requirement for a Provincial Administrator is to be resident of the province. The Syjuco case established him to be a resident of Iloilo City.
"It is nothing new for me actually. My position then and now is that the post has since been vacant but it is good for Mejorada to wake up from a bad dream," Secretary Syjuco said in a phone interview with The News Today (TNT).
Sentiments echoed by the lady solon who said she is most happy that Mejorada is no longer in their employ and a resident of the District.
"Kahuluya sa iya (He is a shame)", Representative Judy ended.
