City Peace and Order Council reconstituted
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas signed executive orders number 43 and 43-A reconstituting the membership of the Iloilo City Peace and Order Council (ICPOC).
"There is a need to add to the existing members of the council so that we will have a comprehensive assessment of the peace and order situation of the city," Treñas said.
Aside from the twenty or so old members coming from various sectors, the ICPOC is now composed of Treñas as the chair, and Vice-mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog as the vice-chair. Members of the council include Councilors Erwin Plagata (SP chair on Police and Public Safety) and Jose Espinosa III (chair on Appropriation); Iloilo Business Club president Antonio Jon, Monsignor Jose Mari Delgado of St. Vincet Seminary, Eraño Catacho of the Iglesia ni Cristo, Atty. Virgilio Teruel of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Pastor Ronny Luces of the Jaro Evangelical Church, Bishop Gaspar Bañes of the Philippine Independence Church, Reynaldo Navarro from Federation of Filipino Chinese of Commerce in Panay, Dr. Roland Uy of the Filipino Chinese chamber of Commerce of Iloilo Incorporation and businessman Andy Go representing the private sector.
Treñas also issued EO 43-A naming representatives from all districts as members of the council. They are Barangay Captains Lari Quindipan for La Paz, Antonio Roberto for City Proper, Sinon Janay, Jr. for Jaro, Antonio Lanceta, Sr. for Arevalo, Arsenio Pedrosa for Mandurriao, Jonathan Taltura for Molo, Jorge Duron for Bakhaw, Mandurriao and Danilo Gison for Mohon, Arevalo.
The council meets once every month and discusses issues and concerns regarding the peace and order situation of the city.
