Heavens and the Earth
Students nowadays have great minds in dealing with different issues; may it be politics, social or even love life (ehem...). Sometimes I can hear them uttering words which I encountered for the first time. There were times I got surprised with the way they write, their writing styles and how they dealt with a particular topic given to them. Below is a write up of mine which I shared to my fourth year students entitled "Heavens and the Earth."
"When God created the heavens and the earth, He saw to it that the earth would be a pleasant place to live in.
Genesis can testify that He made his piece of creation. Six days of filling the heavens and the earth. Six days of stodgy and on the seventh day He rested, thus He made it holy.
He separated light from darkness and provided mornings and evenings. The sun shone at daytime, the moon and the stars glittered up in the sky at night. Water turned into seas and oceans and the land formed mountains, hills and produce vegetation. Different kinds of plants sprouted everywhere and green surrounded the earth. Varied animals moved along the ground. And God created man in His own image to take care of His creation.
Million years passed by and here we come in the generation where science and technology work wonders. Huge commercial buildings arise. Pools substitute the pleasure of the sea. Electric devices move and communicate. Oceans became polluted. The air we breathe now endangers our health. And man became the agent of destruction of God's creation. We have forgotten Genesis.
When God created the heavens and the earth, He saw to it that it would be the best place for humanity to live. Unfortunately, the earth is about to become desolate."
And here's a response from Pauline, one of my students, regarding the article I've shared with them. It says:
The ideal that is genesis or rather, the ideal that "was". Everything was intended to be beautiful and pleasant. The world was supposed to be a paradise. And now, it is "paradise lost."
Yes, the world and the rest of humanity are lost. Lost in the context of morality, of what is right and of what is wrong. What triggers all of these? It is the inability to resist too many changes that happened everyday. People simply go with the flow without thinking twice. Life becomes a waste because of all these outthought and careless decisions. A single moment could change a lifetime. No one wants to live a life of regrets. No one wants to live a life of unhappiness. There is so much going on in the world that we, as human beings, do not have enough discipline and focus to follow the right path, we might get lost in the wilderness of immorality.
Everything affects everything. Everyone affects everyone. That is when your own influence to the world becomes great in value. If you choose to be good person and do good things, then somehow, you choose to make a difference. May it be something so little but no one really knows that little something could become great.
Indeed, Pauline's words have points. Take note dear readers, 16 year old girl talks that way on how men affect and can affect His creation.
Ask yourself then if these things didn't bother you.
