Thousands join anti-dengue rally in Bacolod City
Bacolod City -- Close to 5000 marchers joined the rally against dengue recently that has now claimed the lives of 28 Negrenses and has afflicted more than 1,600 Bacoleños.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the attendance of school children and the youths rendered the activity significant because most victims are kids and were most likely bitten inside the school campus.
He urged the participants to clean their surroundings so that the dreaded Aedes Aegypti can be eradicated and urged the citizens to actively participate in the cleanliness campaign.
Strengthening the city's campaign is the approval of the Comprehensive Anti-Dengue Ordinance authored by Dr. Napoleon Cordova.
He said Bacolod barangays can now utilize a portion of their budget to fight dengue by purchasing materials and items they need to control and eradicate dengue mosquitoes. (PIA-LOL)
