Aklan PPO pilot site of the First Model Police Provincial Office Project
The Aklan Police Provincial Office is the first provincial police office designated as the pilot site of the Model Police Provincial Office Project of the Philippine National Police in line with the Integrated Transformation Program.
Like some selected areas in the country, Aklan became the "pilot site" of the PNP Integrated Transformation Program. Others are Quezon City, Marikina, Sorsogon, Mandaue, Marawi City, General Santos City and Baguio City but affirmed as Model Police Stations.
This reform program garnered full support from the Aklan provincial government by passing a resolution providing full financial support and moral support for the Aklan PPO, thus becoming the first province to formally show support for the effort to have more capable, effective and credible police force.
Through the program, Police Senior Superintendent Benigno B Durana, said Aklan Police chiefs will be better equipped with capabilities in handling police matters.
Durana also had started overhauling the crime management system, established COMPSTAT, WIFI Zone in Aklan PNP in line with the program conceptualized by PNP Chief Director General Oscar C Calderon and his deputy chief for administration, Deputy Director General Avelino I Razon.
The launching is scheduled on 21 September 2007 at Aklan Training Center, Brgy Old Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan. Police Deputy Director General Jesus Ame Versoza, CSEE, Deputy Chief for Operations/Executive Director of Program Management Office will grace the occasion. The Regional Director of Police Regional Office 6 Police Chief Supt Wilfredo V Dulay, Sr, City Directors/Provincial Directors of Western Visayas will also be present to witness and attend the Commend Conference.
The significance of this activity will give an opportunity for Aklan PPO to be prioritized in terms of schooling, supports, logistics, capital outlay and etc. Reforms and best practices will be integrated and showcased in Aklan PPO results of which will be documented and eventually replicated in other province across the country.
